1:: DISCOVER YOU

{pics via HGTV}

Your home should tell a story about you! Don't worry about what others say, think, or do with their space. What do you need/want your personal space to say when it tells the Biography of Insert Name Here??
Often Times we will see a picture in a magazine, watch a TV show, or even visit a friends home and say "I love that or I want that!" Then we proceed to recreate the same room with a sorted mess of odds and ends and no real direction. Ultimately ending with a room full of trinkets, scratching our heads, thinking "I don't understand??Where did I go wrong??"
Solution Time:
Discover You! Take time to discover what style you naturally gravitate towards! What destination do you want to make a permanent get-a-way in your home? Take a peek into a few interior design galleries online, visit your local bookstore, pay attention to little things that make you happy, and don't be afraid to mix and match whatever it is you can't live without!! Be Patient and let the "Design Process" evolve! You will end up with the room you love-- and not your husbands-cousin- sister gorgeous living room.

Did you read your Colorstrology report today???

I am not big on astrology but I am intrigued by collaboration Pantone+MicheleBernhardt=Colorstrology!!! It is a combination of your own unique personal color(you and everyone who celebrates their b-day on that particular day) and personality traits. For example, my b-day is Oct 13 so according to my colorstrology report I am Practical, a Builder, and Driven with Opal Blue 12-5406 as my birthday color. To find out all 366 colors and personal strengths visit Pantone or buy the book. While your @ Pantone, reading your colorstrology, don't forget to send out birthday e-cards to everyone in you address book!!!

The April issue of Domino

These are just a few finds this afternoon that I really love!! I have been meaning to bring my design journal in and add some pics to the blog but I need to organize organize organize...so maybe one of these days I will remember to grab it! so I can add the pictures. Anyway enough about that!! If you have not checked out the April issue of Domino you are missing out!!! The pic above immediately caught my attention (among other things--Drew Barrymore's office). I heart the paint color!! I love vibrant rooms like this, especially in places like the laundry room or kitchen--it lends that extra push to start the dishes or do an extra load of laundry!!

Spring Inspiration

{pic via dwell studio}

{pic via Shawn Lovell Metalworks}

{pics via HGTV}
I just compiled a few cool things for spring. The first picture is a wonderful butterfly duvet from dwell studios. The second is a Tree Bed!! Very interesting to say the least. I love the alarm clocks I found at potterybarn!! The colors are so fresh and bright. Perfect for springtime!! The last is proabably my favorite!!! It is a reshapeable vase (as seen on HGTV's I WANT THAT!) that you dip in hot H2O to sculpt and after achieving your desired shape/design you dip in cold H2O to seal its shape.

Abigail Ahern Lighting Collection

I love these two chandeliers found at Abigail Ahern! I love products with a unique presence. The first chandelier is made of wire and the second a grouping of light bulbs.

Eva Zeisel Design

Eva Zeisel was awarded the National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement by the National Design Museum in 2005. She is popularly known for ceramic designs but I believe her table designs are just as gorgeous! She didn't start designing tables until her early 90's but both her ceramics and tables have a interesting playful style!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Carolina Chaves Urruzmendi

The collection above called In the Ancient Language of Trees is by Los Angeles based artist Carolina Chaves Urruzmendi. Her work is instantly captivating and unique. I love to find out the story or inspiration behind an artists work!! When I asked what her inspiration was behind this particular collection she shares while growing up in Uruguay South America she was "inspired by the mystical quality of it's fauna & flora. As a child I played in the waters of the River Yi and felt the overwhelming presence of nature all around me. The trees whispered through the breeze & I listened."
